Season 12 of Apex Legends is in full swing, with numerous players diving into the revamped Olympus map. In addition to the updated battle royale mode, numerous fans have praised the new 9v9 LTM called Control. While many have enjoyed this updated content, the game still suffers from occasional problems, such as cheaters and hackers.
Since Apex Legends was launched in 2019, the gameplay has come a long way, with many features added to the battle royale, such as the Evo Shield system. But while the game has evolved substantially over the last couple of years, one mechanic still not included is the ability to dual-wield weapons. With this in mind, it obviously came as a massive shock to one gamer when they saw an enemy doing just that.
This strange hack was spotted by a Reddit user known as caoboi97bop. In a post, they shared a video of the hack from the perspective of the cheater. In the recorded clip, the hacker held not one but two P2020 Pistols. And to make matters even worse, they appeared to have some sort of aimbot enabled. Playing as Wattson, the cheater quickly gunned down several players in the lobby using the dual-wielded pistols.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that players have attempted to alter the game to dual wield weapons in Apex Legends. Several months ago, a modder added the mechanic to an R5Reloaded server. However, it is worth noting that this was not part of a public match, unlike the duel wielding spotted by caoboi97bop.
Unfortunately, this is not the only issue players have encountered in Season 12. Beyond this dual wield hack, some have discovered a bug with Revenant’s Death Totem that causes visual issues for players during matches. The glitch happens when a player is sent back to the Death Totem after activating death protection. Following the return to the Totem, they are met with a multitude of weird visual glitches on their screen. As a result, it becomes practically impossible for the player to see what is going on, let alone fight another squad.
These types of hacks and glitches are doubtlessly concerning for players. While the Death Totem bug is annoying, this dual-wield hack is game-breaking as the hacker can essentially output twice as much damage. This is made even worse if paired with an aimbot as seen in the Reddit clip. It will be interesting to see how the developers at Respawn Entertainment look to address these issues in the coming days. Hopefully, a solution can be found so that fans can continue to play the game without worrying about running into hackers that have an unfair advantage.
